RCA Remote Control
The DTV Thompson RCA Remote Code Finder
Note, this remote may not be compatible with all brands and models of devices on the Market. DO NOT program Magnavox TV's
There are two ways to Program the remote.
Direct Entry
Look up the brand and code numbers for the device on the code list.
Turn on the device to be controlled.
Point the remote at the device. Press and hold the "Component Button" (TV or Aux) you want to use to control the device.
Using the "Number Keys" enter a 4 digit code from the list (above).
If the "LED Indicator" flashes, you have either entered an invalid code or the button isn't programmable.
Release the "Component Button", then press the "On/Off" button on the remote.
If the device does not respond, press the "To TV" button on the remote and then press the "On/Off" button again.
If the component still does not respond, try another code. Try up to 3 codes.
If that fails, try "Auto Seek"
Note, AUX can't be programmed using the Auto Seek method.
Auto Seek:
Turn on the device you want the remote to control.
Press and hold the "Component Button" you want to use to control the device. Then press and hold the "On/Off" button until the "LED Indicator" on the remote turns on. Then release both buttons.
Point the remote at the device, then press and release the "Play" button on the remote. Wait 5 seconds or until the "LED Indicator" on the remote stops flashing.
At this point, the remote has searched for the correct code. When it finds one, the device will turn off.
If the device does not turn off after 5 seconds, press "Play" button again to search the next set of codes.
Continue to repeating the process of pressing the "Play" button every 5 to 10 seconds for 20 times (the remote stores 20 sets of codes). If a suitable code is not found, the remote cannot programmed to operate that particular device.
Note, once you've found the right codes, hit the "rewind" button, followed by the "stop" button
